What are the goals and purpose of the Woman's Club of Chevy Chase?
WCCC is a nonprofit social and philanthropic club; its main goal is community support with a particular focus on the welfare of women and children. WCCC offers its members many opportunities to engage with each other, both in community service efforts and in activities with a focus on educational enrichment.
What are some examples of the community service efforts and philanthropic work the club is involved in?
Examples include drives for clothing, school supplies, and food pantry items to benefit community groups. The club awards a number of scholarships to local students each year. What activities does the club offer for its members?
The Club offers its members many activities, including a book group, art lessons, music activities, bridge groups, and an international affairs group. The Club sponsors gatherings, monthly potluck dinners, and other social activities through the year that are open to all members and their guests. For more information, visit our Activities page.
When and where are meetings held? Are there evening meetings or activities?
Our monthly general meeting, a business meeting followed by a catered lunch and a speaker, is held the third Wednesday of the month. The September meeting is a 10 AM Open House to showcase offerings for the upcoming year. Most special interest groups and committees meet monthly. The Evening Section also sponsors a monthly evening meeting and other evening activities, including book discussions and bridge lessons.
Do I have to live in Chevy Chase to join the Club?
Individuals from anywhere in the Washington metropolitan area may join.
Do I have to be a member to come to a meeting?
Prospective members are encouraged to attend a meeting to determine whether the club seems like a good fit for them. Please contact the Membership Committee Chair to arrange to attend a meeting.
How much are the membership dues?
Membership dues are $160 for the current club year (June 1 to May 31).

When was the club founded? How many members are there?
WCCC was founded in 1913. Currently, there are over 200 active members in the Club.
What is the General Federation of Woman's Clubs (GFWC) and what is WCCC's relationship to it?
GFWC is a federation of over 3,000 US women's clubs promoting civic improvements through volunteer service. WCCC is a member of GFWC but is governed by its own bylaws. For more details visit GFWC Website and Club History.
