Message from the President

Hi!

As the newest Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase (WCCC) President I’m delighted to add my name to a long list of skilled and talented women. While I can’t help but think the next two years will likely be fraught with ongoing “challenges,” it’s reassuring to know my predecessors successfully led us through the 1918 influenza pandemic, two world wars and even raised money to build this clubhouse during the depression. And that was just our first 50 years! We’re strong and resourceful women.

If you drive past our clubhouse during this period of COVID-19 quarantine, it may look like we’re on hiatus. But we’re not. Hindered, but not halted. Since everyone’s world changed in March, we have changed with it. Most of our meetings and groups continue to function using Zoom and other electronic platforms. We migrated to digital voting to elect our new officers, approve this year’s community service grants and scholarships, and facilitate their distribution. We’ve coordinated a drive to provide meals for local healthcare workers, made and donated masks to hospitals, and held a highly successful community “Mask Sale” on our beautiful clubhouse grounds which showcased a variety of masks sewn by dedicated club members. And we also recently hosted a successful virtual fundraising talk featuring Grace Cavalieri, Poet Laureate for the State of Maryland.

We will resume these activities in accordance with State & County guidelines.

We are still Women Caring for Club and Community!

Please join us.

Sincerely,

Andrea Sherman

WCCC President 2020-22
