Message from the President

One hundred and eleven years ago, 13 women united to form the Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase. The WCCC has evolved and adapted ever since! We no longer wear hats and gloves, except for our haunted house. We no longer hold tea parties, except for our annual Cherry Blossom Tea. We no longer limit membership to Chevy Chase, and we even have some members who are men. And we no longer refer to each other by our husband’s names, we are Barbara and Caitlin and Mickey and Grace. 

The 1913 members would find themselves at home with the current uniting purposes of the WCCC. Community service and scholarship remains a central focus, with over $250,000 donated to students and nonprofit organizations in 2022-2023. Thousands of volunteer hours from members supports our communities as well, as we collect and cook and coordinate and support nonprofits throughout the area.

Interest groups and events provide ample opportunity for friendship through activity at the WCCC. Bridge, music, gardens, and the love of good literature are our constants. International Affairs and Everything Art balance Happy Hours, Game Nights, and Fireworks parties. Members support Club wide events such as the Community Art Show, Mystery Mansion, and Santa's Workshop. 

More than half of our members prefer evening events as they balance work, family, and other volunteer commitments. A full schedule of interest groups, speakers, and events lets every member choose their focus and participate as they wish. Many members have retired from demanding careers and now explore new interests at their own pace. The WCCC helps members thrive with social, community, and educational opportunities. 

We look forward to continual change with a nod to the past and hope you will join us in the future!
